First Book Canada and the Jays Care Foundation partnership helps get books to kids in need.
Access to books are critical to a child’s learning and development—it is a key to unlocking curiosity, empathy, and a love of reading. High-quality, new books are expensive at retailers, which often means low-income children and families miss out on the opportunity for equal access to the very books that inspire the next generation of diverse thinkers and leaders.
Through the collaborative efforts of champion members and non-profit partners, First Book Canada members have the opportunity to attend pop-up events. Pop-up events provide access to high quality and diverse books to members for free! Members are able to hand pick 100+ books and distribute those resources to the children they serve.
Since the inaugural event in November 2021, First Book Canada and the Jays Care Foundation, the charitable arm of the Toronto Blue Jays baseball team, have hosted 5 multi-day Turn the Page events across the country.
First Book Canada works closely with a variety of corporations, non-profits, and individuals to promote equal access to quality education for children in need. With our partners, we have distributed more than 10 million books and educational resources. We invite everyone to explore ways to work together to provide even more books and resources to kids who need them.
